Life XP

UX / Data Science

Life XP is a mobile app concept exploring how data-driven insights can help players maintain a healthy balance between gaming and daily life. Rather than restricting playtime, the project focuses on awareness supporting users in understanding their habits and how games can fit into their overall well-being.

Research and Predictive Framework

The project began by analyzing data on:

  • Game genres and playtime habits

  • Self-reported life satisfaction

  • Broader lifestyle and preference patterns

Using these datasets, we created a predictive model that estimated an optimal weekly playtime range for each player type. Then adding in the players own behavioural data allowed the app in theory to coach the user personally.
The model wasn’t a formal neural network but a data-pattern-based prediction illustrating how design can use behavioral insights to guide healthier relationships with games, especially the competitive and addictive ones.

App Design and User Experience

The prototype design emphasized calm, clarity, and non-judgmental feedback.
It guided users through:

  • Input and calibration of habits and preferences

  • Visual dashboards tracking playtime trends

  • Goal-setting and progress prompts aligned with predicted balance ranges

The experience aimed to encourage reflection rather than restriction blending behavioral insight with thoughtful interaction design.

Outcome

Life XP combines predictive thinking and UX design to explore the positive potential of games in everyday life. Ultimately, the project reframed gaming not as a problem to fix but as a meaningful part of well-being that can be supported through mindful design.

Reflection

During this project I learned how to interpret and visualize data patterns. After which using these findings to design user experiences that help people further. Making use of digital prototyping tools to quickly but with quality bring the concept to life.
